THE next generation of talented Olympic weightlifting and IPC powerlifting athletes attended the first of six talent camps at the BWL High Performance Centre in Leeds last month.
These athletes have been identified through the six-month talent confirmation programme which started in January this year.
The selected athletes will attend a number of training weekends which encompass a specifically designed athlete development programme to ensure athletes are provided with the knowledge and tools to progressively transition into the weightlifting high performance environment with an emphasis upon learning and development and not current performance.
The BWL talent squad aims to provide athletes with awareness and a greater appreciation of the integral role targeted areas of the weightlifting high performance environment play in athlete development and overall high performance sport.
